Who We Are
When the family of Gungor (Ginger) and Mehmet Nuri Davarci (Nuri) came to the United States in 2014, they had 2 goals in their mind.
The first was “How can we provide the best opportunity for our children?” and the second was “How can we represent our background, our culture in the best way possible and bring Authentic Turkish Food to the US?”. With these thoughts, they moved their family from Turkey to Austin-Texas, in 2014, starting their first family restaurant called “Troy” and serving Turkish cuisine to the people of central Texas.
With the ‘first things first’ approach, they enrolled their children, Orhan & Orhun, in school and showed their utmost attention while speaking little English to support them as they go to school to seek the opportunities they came to the US for. All the while, they built up their restaurant “Troy” from the ground up and introduced their family’s cooking from Adana, Turkey to the people of Austin, Texas. When their children first went to schools at the University of Texas at Austin and graduated after 8 years of coming to the US, they had accomplished the first goal they came to the US and worked so hard to achieve.
They could now focus on moving freely in the US and share the deliciousness of Turkish/Mediterranean cuisine with more people across the United States. It did not take too long until they found a new place where they feel they belong to introduce their home-style cooking in Ormond Beach, Florida. They took over the mission of serving Authentic Turkish/Mediterranean cuisine from their close friends Ayten & Wesley Hooper, with whom they share the exact same passion for serving deliciousness while introducing Turkish culture and hospitality in May of 2023. Their story of serving delicious Turkish/Mediterranean cuisine will continue as long as their hands can prepare the dishes and bring them to their customers fresh from the kitchen.
The restaurant they started in 2014 in Austin, TX is today known as “TROY ATX” and still continues to serve delicious Authentic Turkish food to the people of Central Texas, true to its original mission.
